It’s a known fact
that our ancestors made use of what nature could offer to treat
various ailments. This was long before the discovery of modern
medicine.
However, it is said
history repeats itself and today publications worldwide are flooded
with advertisements of natural remedies as there is a growing
demand for such products.
It should however
be stressed that such natural products are not supposed to replace
any medicine as prescribed by a doctor. They may be used only to
complement it. To ensure the wealth of your health one should
attempt a healthy lifestyle that, amongst others, include eating a
lot of fruit as well as doing some sort of exercise!
Aloe ferox
is endemic to South Africa and its healing qualities are well known
in other African and overseas countries. The sap of the leaf
contains anthraquinones which stimulates the gastrointestinal
tract. The gel, taken from the inner portion of the leaf, contains
glycoproteins that speed up the healing process by stopping pain and
inflammation. The gel’s polysaccharides are a carbohydrate that
stimulates skin growth and repair.
These substances
also stimulate the immune system. Studies have shown the plant
also enhances the effectiveness of some of the medicine used to
treat the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Aloe ferox may
also have anti-cancer effects but research regarding this and other
qualities is still ongoing. |
